Nizamabad: The Telugu Desam Party demanded the TRS government that they should immediately start the Pranahita-Chevella works in the district and end layoffs in Nizam Sugars factory.
TDP district president and former MLC Arikela Narsa Reddy on Thursday interacted with the media persons at the district party office. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the redesigning of Pranahita-Chevella project would harm the benefits of Nizamabad district.
“The government first said that they will cancel all the packages of the project but are now saying that they will continue 20 and 21 packages and cancel only the 22 package works,” Narsa Reddy said. With 20, 21, 22 packages, 3.05 lakh acres additional area would come under irrigation in the district, he said. He demanded that the government should resolve the issue as soon as possible and start the works.
The TDP leader further said that TRS party, during the Telangana movement, had accused TDP of privatising Nizam Sugar Factories (NSF) but now closed the factory permanently and put layoff.
Later, he announced the district party general body with 72 members comprising 14 vice-presidents, 4-general secretaries, 3-spokespersons and rest organising secretaries, secretaries, and executive members. Narsa Reddy further said that the party would strengthen at village-level.
