Calls for cent per cent implementation of welfare schemes

Mahbubnagar: The all-party general body meeting at Mahbubnagar Zila Parishad, chaired by Minister for Major Industries Jupally Krishna Rao on Monday, discussed various issues pertaining to drought, Rural Water Supply (RWS) scheme, PDS and encroached government lands in Amangal. While speaking on the occasion, the Minister directed the officials to see that welfare schemes were implemented cent per cent in the district with full transparency and accountability.

“We are taking all necessary steps to ensure transparency and speedy implementation of welfare schemes and drinking water projects in the district. We have already send proposals of Rs 100 crore to the State government to help the district overcome drought situation. Very soon, the drinking water scheme will be implemented and will ensure that every household gets potable water,” said the Minister.

The Mandal Parishad Presidents (MPPs) and Zila Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTCs) discussed the initiatives taken up by the 64 departments in the district. However, as many as 16 departments failed to provide progress reports to the members. The members from Congress party lamented the laxity of officials in not taking up developmental works in the district despite government sanctioning funds.

Particularly, the opposition members dragged the government over lack of transparency in the RWS project. They also pulled up the government for not taking adequate steps to overcome drought and scarcity of fodder for livestock in the district. “The TRS government is doing only lip service and not implementing welfare schemes in a transparent manner. It has miserably failed to take steps to mitigate the drought situation.

Majority of the villages are facing drinking water problems and animals are being increasingly sold due to lack of fodder,” lamented Chinna Reddy, MLA from Wanaparthy. Assuring the members that the government was taking all measures to implement welfare schemes with transparency, Jupally directed the officials of revenue department to look in to the allegations of precious government lands being illegally grabbed by private parties.

Similarly, the Minister also directed to RWS officials to complete the project on time. With regard to implementation of MGNREGA, the Minister directed the officials to ensure 100 per cent targets. Wherever the field assistants were not able to meet the targets, the Minister directed the officials to replace such persons with senior mates and ensure that the 100 days of employment to the rural poor.

With regard to allegations of ‘sona masuri rice’ being sold in the black markets by the ration shop owners, Jupally asked the officials to strengthen the PDS system by conducting strict vigilance activities to nab the dealers divulging from stipulated rules. Coming to construction of individual latrines (IL) in the villages, the Minister directed the officials concerned to carry out the works on war footing and complete the construction and meet the targets at the earliest.
