The US Consulate General Hyderabad and ‘Girls in Tech’-a US based organisation jointly launched ‘Girls in Tech (GIT)’ at a hotel here on Monday. GIT focuses on the education and empowerment of women in field of technology and entrepreneurship. 

Hyderabad: The US Consulate General Hyderabad and ‘Girls in Tech’-a US based organisation jointly launched ‘Girls in Tech (GIT)’ at a hotel here on Monday. GIT focuses on the education and empowerment of women in field of technology and entrepreneurship.

It gives a platform for women to come up with new ideas, learn new skills and helps in pursuing career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Speaking at the launch, US Consulate General, Hyderabad, Consul General Michael Mullins said, “science and technology partnerships that the United States forms with other countries addresses critical issues that concerns the whole world.”

Cooperation in science and technology can foster a global environment where invention, innovation and industry can thrive, he said. Science and technology cooperation strengthens our international relationships because these disciplines are based on values that rise above politics, languages, borders and cultures, he added.

He further said another idea was to provide right kind of exposure, mentorship, network, enhance skills and knowledge through a range of national and international resource pool, programmes, workshops and opportunities to connect and showcase talent of women.

Telangana Information Technology Secretary Jayesh Ranjan felt that GIT was the right platform to groom girls after completing their studies so as to get into jobs or take up entrepreneurship.
