Releasing a pamphlet pertaining to the programme here on Saturday, Samithi state president Nune Venkata Swamy said that the existing and sanctioned national highways, which would pass through villages and towns in Nalgonda district, were causing several road accidents.

He pointed out that more number of accidents have been reported from areas of villages and towns through which national highway no. 65 (Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway), was passing. The proposed highway from Warangal to Macharam would displace several families by passing through Nakrekal, Panagal and several villages, he added.

Accepting the fact that roads are necessary for development, but, Venkata Swamy said, they must be designed keeping in mind the interests of the people living in the nearby residential areas.
