Vikalangula Hakkula Porata Samithi (VHPS) on Monday demanded the State government that they should hike the pension for the handicapped from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000.
Nalgonda: Vikalangula Hakkula Porata Samithi (VHPS) on Monday demanded the State government that they should hike the pension for the handicapped from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000.
Speaking at a media conference in the town, State VHPS president Parashuram said that the TRS government was being indifferent towards the welfare of the disabled persons. It has increased the pension to Rs 1,500 only after they waged an agitation for six months.
But in the neighbouring state of Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had hiked the handicapped pensions immediately after coming to the power, he said.
“Keeping in mind the GHMC elections, the TRS has conducted a meeting with the disabled persons in Telangana Bhavan and the party was not sincere in resolving their problems. It is very unfortunate that no Minister in the State participated in the World Disability Day celebrations which were conducted at Ravindra Bharati in Hyderabad,” he lamented.
Parusharam urged the State government to set up the Disabled Sub-Plan in the State. The government should immediately appoint a chairman for Disabled Corporation and introduce seven per cent quota to the disabled in jobs and for pursuing education.
