The students of Hyderabad Central University have called for a bandh on Wednesday and in response, universities are observing the bandh all over the country protesting against Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula's suicide.

While the HCU Students JAC has been staging protests demanding the suspension of Union Ministers Bandaru Dattatreya, Smriti Irani and HCU Vice- Chancellor Appa Rao, they are planning to intensify the protests by including all student unions in order to put pressure on the NDA government.

Meanwhile, Osmania University students took upon a huge rally in Secunderabad which was stopped by the police. Students of Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) too observed a bandh and staged dharna and rallies opposing the high-handedness of the Centre in the case demanding the resignation of those responsible for the suicide of Rohith. They even demanded a thorough inquiry to be conducted in the suicide case.

Even Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao participated in the bandh today by staging a silent protest against the proceedings of the administration in the University. Hanumantha Rao staged a protest near BR Ambedkar statue, Tank Bund and demanded justice for Rohith's family.
