Ponguleti seeks funds for Bhadradri
Congress Deputy Floor Leader in the Council Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy demanded renaming of redesigned Dummugudem irrigation project as Sri Rama Indira Rajiv Sagar Project.
Khammam: Congress Deputy Floor Leader in the Council Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy demanded renaming of redesigned Dummugudem irrigation project as Sri Rama Indira Rajiv Sagar Project.
In a memorandum to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who is on a two-day tour to Khammam district, Reddy urged the government to rechristen Dummugudem project as Sri Rama Indira Rajiv Sagar since both the Indira Sagar and Rajiv Sagar projects have been merged in the redesigned version.
He also pointed out that ongoing construction of Polavaram multipurpose irrigation project in its present form would harm the Adivasis who have been living in Bhadrachalam Agency for centuries. Hence, the government should take initiative by apprising the Central government of the dire situation in the Agency.
Among other demands, Reddy also urged the government to release Rs 150 crore for the development of Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam.
