Warangal: Former chief whip Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy has dismissed the reports on his plans to join the ruling TRS. In the wake of speculations that Ramana Reddy could join the TRS following the former minister Baswaraju Saraiah and others, he made it clear that he was not quitting the Congress even though the seniors in the party were quitting.

Speaking to presspersons at Congress Bhavan in Hanamkonda on Wednesday, he claimed that he was overlooked many times in the past by the party high command during elections. ‘But I was not discouraged and continued working for the party,’ he added. Referring to Saraiah’s exit from Congress, he said Saraiah though coming from a middle class family grew politically and become a minister as the party supported him much. ‘He has his own personal reasons for leaving the Congress party,’ Ramana Reddy added.

Hitting out at Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, he complained though tall promises he failed to ensure development of Warangal. Promises like houses for poor people, establishment of Textile Park and others were yet to be delivered. Ramana Reddy appealed the voters in the GWMC to elect the candidates of Congress so as to strengthen the opposition. A strong opposition was a must to question the ruling TRS, he added. Party leaders G Narender Reddy, EV Srinivasa Rao, Namindla Srinivas and others were present.
