The Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Bhadrachalam is on a mission to develop the Garimillapadu Horticultural Nursery on the lines of Kadiyam nurseries in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The plan is to raise horticultural crops and vegetables on the vacant lands of all its Ashram schools so that the management could use the yield for the needs of students.

​Khammam: The Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Bhadrachalam is on a mission to develop the Garimillapadu Horticultural Nursery on the lines of Kadiyam nurseries in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The plan is to raise horticultural crops and vegetables on the vacant lands of all its Ashram schools so that the management could use the yield for the needs of students.

The saplings raised in Garimillapadu nursery will be supplied to all Ashram schools and welfare hostels for plantation. The administration has directed the officials to identify vacant land. This apart, the ITDA administration also has plans to promote Haritha Haram programme by taking up the plantation of 21 lakh saplings.

The ITDA has plans to send its officials to Kadiyam to get an idea of how the nurseries spread in 3,500 acres have caught the eye of the nation besides providing employment to more than 20,000 people. The ITDA Project Officer Rajiv Gandhi Hanmanthu said: “The focus is on to grow horticultural crops along with ornamental plants on the vacant land of all schools that come under the purview of the ITDA.

The works will be grounded by March 15.” We have plans to market the ornamental plants in Khammam and Kothagudem,
he said.
