They dug nearly ten acres of land 10 to 12 feet below and were transporting gravel soil illegally in large number of trucks for the construction of a railway bond.

Amrad Thanda is a hamlet village of Amrad Grampanchayati in Makloor Mandal in Nizamabad district. In Makloor Mandal, larger quantities of gravel soil are required for the construction of the bund. To run trains on the Peddapally-Nizamabad Railway line to various villages. The railway contractors excavate hills and hillocks with excavators.

As a result of these excavations, the government is losing large sums of money running into crores of rupees. Moreover, these excavations are harmful to the Nature and the animals. The excavations are going on beside the Nizamsagar Project Canal and also damaging it to a considerable extent.

According to engineering experts, the indiscriminate digging would make the Nizamsagar canal to sink in the future. The representatives from the CPM and other voluntary organizations paid a visit to the spot on Thursday and asked the staff for the necessary documents. But they failed to produce any valid documents and fled the spot immediately.

According to information provided by the local people, the contractors gave Rs 1 lakh to the local villagers and digging crore worth of gravel soil from the spot. Speaking to The Hans India on Saturday, Dandi Venkat, district CPM secretary alleged that railway contractors were digging for the gravel soil and transporting them in hundreds of trucks from the Amrad Thanda hillocks illegally by bribing the officials of the Revenue, Police and Mines & Geology departments.

He said that they were also bribing the local political leaders. He urged the district officials to conduct an inquiry on these illegal diggings and impose penalty on the contractors and immediately recover the amount from them.
