Karimnagar: Activists of Student Federation of India (SFI) on Saturday prevented the convoy of Finance and Civil Supplies Minister Eatala Rajender at the Collectorate, demanding him release of pending scholarships and fee reimbursement amount.

The SFI activists, who were on relay hunger strike for the past few days, interrupted the convoy while the Minister was returning after attending District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting. They ran before the convoy when it reached their strike camp. Police swung into action and pacified the agitating students.

Rajender got down from the vehicle and visited the diksha camp to convince the students. Informing that the government has already allocated Rs 500 crore for the purpose, he assured to clear all pending scholarships and fee reimbursement amounts. Not satisfied with the Minister’s statement, students raised slogans while the Minister left the spot.
