The Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) has welcomed the budgetary announcements made by Telangana Finance Minister Eetala Rajender on Monday. TITA termed Telangana Government's 2016-17 budget as a balanced mix focused on social and industrial development.

TITA President Sundeep Kumar Makthala, expressed happiness over the budget allocations for Digital Literacy & THub. In reaction to the Budget, Makthala said "The focus on leveraging technology to streamline distribution and the proposed steps for ease of doing business in Telangana are indicative of the Government’s resolve towards Digital Telangana and supporting entrepreneurship. The move of expanding the Digital Literacy in rural Telangana will support the increased manpower requirement for the ICT sector from a larger catchment area and will certainly boost employment generation. The earlier concept of basic needs being ‘roti, kapda and makaan’ has now become ‘roti, kapda, makaan and computer’. There’s a need to make every citizen a Digital Literate to make corruption free society.”

Makthala said that, a budgetary allocation for Digital Literacy & Thub in Information Technology amounting to Rs 254 crore is the first time. This has been a long standing demand of the association which is working aggressively on Digital Literacy under the banner of 'Digithon' and Startups under the banner of 'Startup March'.
