Karimnagar: Health Minister Dr C Laxma Reddy said that Intensive Care Units would be setup in all government hospitals across the state to provide treatment to the poor on par with corporate hospitals. Speaking to the media after inaugurating Intensive Care Unit in the District Headquarters Hospital here on Thursday, Laxma Reddy said, “With a view to provide corporate treatment in the government hospitals, the government was providing all facilities in Area and District Headquarters Hospitals.

Stating that there were 12 dialysis centres in the state, he said that another 20 centres would also be setup and if necessary, the government was ready to establish even 40 centres. A dialysis centre would also be setup in Karimnagar hospital, he added. The State government has also decided to establish government medical colleges in every district.

Informing that a medical college has already been started in Mahbubnagar district from this academic year, he said another college would be set up in Ramagundam with the cooperation of Singareni Company. Stating that they had examined the working style of Primary Health Centres in Tamil Naidu, the Minister assured to develop a good health system in the state.

He admitted the shortfall of doctors and paramedical staff in hospitals and assured to take measures to recruit all vacant posts very soon. A total of Rs 6,010 crore was allocated for health sector in the state budget, he said.
