He said following complaints of contaminated water supply from consumers of Saroornagar, Alwal and Ramanthapur, the board had rectified supply lines and were now supplying clean water. He asked consumers to avoid pit taps which were below the ground level and also taps which were below sewer lines. “We advice people to avoid pit taps as we have observed water contamination in such taps,” he said.

The board had tested 11,247 water samples up to March 2016 and found bacterial presence in seven samples. The samples constitute bacterial presence of about 0.06 per cent. The board issued instructions to all General Managers and field officials to be vigilant and redress the contamination of water complaints at a faster pace. Water consumers can also register their complaint on Metro customer care number 155313.
