Department of Handlooms and Textiles has made all arrangements to organise a handicraft textile exhibition in Nagarkurnool from March 31. According to Deputy Director of Handlooms and Textiles, Tirumala Rao, the exhibition would be held for 10 days between March 31 and April 9. 

Mahbubnagar: Department of Handlooms and Textiles has made all arrangements to organise a handicraft textile exhibition in Nagarkurnool from March 31. According to Deputy Director of Handlooms and Textiles, Tirumala Rao, the exhibition would be held for 10 days between March 31 and April 9.

“As per the directives of State and Central governments, we are organising a 10-day handicrafts and textiles mela in Nagarkurnool. The main aim of this exhibition is to put on display the various textile products produced by different handloom cooperative societies both in Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh and encourage the handloom weaver community by giving them wide publicity,” said Tirumala Rao.

About 40 handloom textile cooperative societies from Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh are expected to take part in the exhibition to showcase most popular textile products. The handloom textile exhibition is also set to highlight specially woven all weather woollen bed sheets called ‘Gongali’ from Mahabubnagar and carpets from Warangal.
