Nalgonda: CPM state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram slammed the government over its failure in supplying drinking water to the public in the district.
Veerabhadram and former MLC Chukka Ramaiah unveiled the statue of former MLA late Narra Raghava Reddy at Vattimarthy village of Chityal mandal on Saturday, on the occasion of Narra Raghava Reddy’s first death anniversary.
Speaking to the media, Veerabhadram said the entire district was under the clutches of drought but the government declared only 22 mandals in the district as drought-hit.
Reminding the Supreme Court directions to two Telugu speaking states regarding making necessary arrangements in the drought-hit mandals, he criticised the government for its negligence in taking measures to supply drinking water to people and livestock.
Objecting the supplying of drinking water to the public thorough private tankers at high price, he demanded the government to take the responsibility of supplying water free of cost for the welfare of the public. He also demanded free supply of grass to the livestock. He opposed the government’s decision on redesigning various irrigation projects.
Veerabhadram pointed out that the Central government allotted Rs 3,600 crores to the State under NREGS works, but sanctioned only Rs 300 crores. He demanded immediate sanction of the remaining amount to provide works to the villagers to avoid migrations.
District party secretary Julakanti Ranga Reddy, former MLC Seetaramulu, state committee member Nandyala Narsimha Reddy and others participated in the programme.
