Hyderabad: Welcoming the Telangana State government’s decision to extend the ‘Kalyana Laxmi’ scheme to brides of poor BCs, the National Most Backward Classes Welfare Association (NMBCWA) has urged the government to hike the amount under the scheme meant to poor BCs to Rs 1,00,116. The NMBCWA held an emergency meeting at its State office here on Friday.

The meeting was headed by NMBCWA president KC Kalappa. NMBCWA vice-president Nethikar Premlal and others participated in the meeting. The meeting passed two resolutions, including doubling of Kalyana Laxmi amount.

The meeting also urged the government to look into the two resolutions with positive mind as there were innumerous most backward classes people like Mondiwaru, Pamulawallu, Panchalavallu, Peddammavallu, Veeramustivallu, Gangireddulavallu, Gudalavallu, Katipamulavallu, Jogivallu, Kummari, Vadla, Kanchari, Dommara, Budabukkala and so on.
