Hyderabad: Newly appointed TSRTC chairman S Satyanarayana on Friday said that his aim was to bring the corporation into the path of profits by taking steps which would ensure profits and avoiding the steps which were prone to losses.

He took charge as the first chairman of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation in the presence of Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy, Finance Minister Eatala Rajender, Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy, Excise Minister T Padma Rao Goud and others at Bus Bhavan on Friday.

Speaking to the reporters, Satyanarayana said that he would strive to take the RTC in the path of profit on the directions of Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy and suggestions of Joint Managing Director G V Ramana Rao. Satyanarayana said that he was associated with RTC as a trade union leader.

He said that he served as a union leader for 12 years in the corporation. “Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, having faith in me has given a responsibility. I will bring the RTC into profits by working as a team with the employees and workers,” he said. He also said that the accumulated losses of the corporation were Rs 2,200 crore.

He said that the Chief Minister was giving good suggestions and based on those suggestions, he would take the RTC on development path. Satyanarayana said that the corporation had 60,000 workforce taking 80 lakh passengers every day. It needs lot of discipline in a public related department, he said.

Earlier, the Minister signed a file pertaining to renovation of Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station. The chairman sanctioned Rs 1.8 crore for renovation of MGBS. He would meet the higher officials of the corporation on Saturday.
