Karimnagar: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and Finance Minister Eatala Rajender on Saturday visited the proposed site for construction of Lakshmi Narsimha Sagar Project (LNSP) at Pattipaka in Dharmaram mandal and announced that Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) survey for the project would be conducted from Sunday.

Harish Rao described the district as the heart of Telangana as several prominent irrigation projects supplying water to the whole State were located in it.

He inspected the Pranahita-Chevella Lift Irrigation (LI) Scheme works at Nandimedaram. He went inside the tunnel for a distance of two km and inspected the pump house and tunnel construction works.

Harish Rao said that progress achieved on the project was two times more than what was achieved in eight years of the Congress regime. He also reviewed Yellampalli and Pranahita-Chevella LI Scheme works at Medaram.

Later speaking at a meeting held at Dharmaram market yard, he came down heavily on Jagityal MLA Jeevan Reddy.

Responding to Jeevan Reddy’s criticism that people of the State were unfortunate to have KCR born on Telangana soil, Harish Rao accused Jeevan Reddy of ‘ghulamgiri’ to former chief minister Dr YS Rajashekhar Reddy, who according to him, provided water to Rayalaseema at the expense of Telangana.

Stating that the Congress and TDP were finished in Telangana, he wanted the leaders of the opposition parties to stop speaking nonsense and cooperate with the TRS government.

He predicted that the Congress would go the way of the TDP as it had no specific policy. He accused the Congress of adopting one stance in Maharashtra, another one in Telangana and yet another one in Andhra Pradesh, with regard to
irrigation issues.
