Crook in cop’s seat; photos go viral
An Inspector working in Hyderabad City Police Commissionerate found himself at the centre of a controversy after some photographs of the officer along with an offender were circulated on WhatsApp.
Hyderabad: An Inspector working in Hyderabad City Police Commissionerate found himself at the centre of a controversy after some photographs of the officer along with an offender were circulated on WhatsApp.
On Thursday, two photographs of G Srinivas, former Inspector of Sultan Bazaar Police Station, went viral on WhatsApp. One of them featured the Inspector with Jabbar, an offender and the other, more brazen one, shows Jabbar sitting in the inspector’s chair at Sultan Bazaar Police Station.
Srinivas is currently posted in Main Police Control Room. On learning about the pictures, Srinivas lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police that some unknown persons were trying to defame him by circulating the pictures on the internet.
“Jabbar was introduced to me by one of my relatives at a function. After that, he visited the Sultan Bazaar Police Station a couple of times, when he came to Koti for shopping. As he was introduced to me by a relative, in good faith, I allowed him to take a picture with me,” said Srinivas.
He claimed that he was not aware of the photograph taken by the offender sitting in his chair and said, “I stopped talking to him or having any sort of communication with him once I came to know that he had a criminal background.
All of a sudden these pictures are being circulated to defame me.” The Cyber Crime police are probing the case.
