Irrigation minister T Harish Rao on Friday called up his Karnataka counterpart MB Patil, requesting him to AP’s objection to the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS) works and that the Karnataka government should continue the works.

Harish Rao informed Mr Patil that the AP’s objections were uncalled for and that the government should complete the RDS works at the earliest ensuring waters allocated to TS as per the Bachawat Award. Mr Patil reportedly responded to consider the request.

Currently, the canal repair and other works are in progress in Karnataka and would be taken up in Telangana too shortly. Meanwhile, the Irrigation Minister sanctioned Rs 17 crore compensation for the relocated farmers under Dindi Balancing Reservoir project in Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar districts as promised.
