Manchirayal: Unfazed by scathing criticism, Prof M Kodandaram, Chairman of Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC), has vowed to remain in the forefront in highlighting people’s problems in the State.Speaking to The Hans India on Tuesday, Prof Kodandaram, who drew flak from the Ministers for his remarks that the TRS government had failed to live up to the expectations of people during its two year regime, said: `
`I will continue to tour the districts to be acquainted with people’s problems. The TJAC already highlighted the woes of small and marginal farmers after studying acute drought conditions in the districts. After touring Medak district, I came to know the apprehensions held by the people who are facing displacement threat from the new irrigation projects.’’
Justifying his remarks, the TJAC chief, who spearheaded the separate Telangana movement, said: “The people of the State in general, middle class sections and farmers, in particular, are hopeful that all their aspirations are fulfilled in the new regime. There is discontentment among some people that the TRS government is not moving forward as per their wishes to ensure speedy growth.
The TRS government policies need to be acceptable for all and it should not deviate from its Telangana growth agenda. There is nothing wrong in expressing people’s dissatisfaction over the TRS rule, which enables the government to rectify lapses in its policy decisions.’’
On his reaction to the criticism of TRS leaders, he said: “I will respond to it after the TJAC meeting in Hyderabad on Wednesday, which will discuss people’s problems.’’
“I am committed to people’s welfare. There is no truth in the allegations against me that I resorted to criticising the TRS government for not getting a Rajya Sabha ticket. I never aspired for any posts. My intention is to make the TRS regime aware of its promises. It is the responsibility of the KCR government to fulfil all the promises made to the people of Telangana during the struggle for a separate State,’’ he said.
Refuting the charge that he had colluded with some anti-TRS forces, the TJAC chief said, “The TRS government which won accolades for its Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhagiratha and other development projects, should ensure balanced growth of the State. The development projects initiated by the government should not be limited to Hyderabad.’’
