Call to ban plastic
GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan has appealed to all the citizens to strictly implement plastic ban and not to use plastic carry bags below 50 microns.
​Hyderabad: GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan has appealed to all the citizens to strictly implement plastic ban and not to use plastic carry bags below 50 microns.
The Mayor on Friday held at review meeting with all the traders of plastic industry and senior officials of GHMC to discuss the plastic ban. He said that everyone should feel the responsibility to make the city clean, green and free from pollution.
He said that previously the GHMC has taken up plastic ban for below 40 microns. But now, it has enhanced it to 50 microns, as per the directions of the Government of India.
It has also been observed that most of the plastic bags are being thrown in open nalas which is causing blockages in almost 70 per cent of the cases. The GHMC is planning to depute 200 volunteers for controlling the usage of plastic bags below 50 microns.
