Rythu Bazaars in all constituencies HarishAdepu Mahender
Inaugurating a Rythu Bazaar, which not only caters vegetables but also non-vegetarian items, here on Sunday, the Minister said the government would set up Rythu Bazaars to provide a platform for farmers to sell their produce directly to customers, thereby helping both the parties benefit.
Karimnagar: Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao has said all the Assembly constituencies in the State will be provided with Rythu Bazaars equipped with modern facilities.
Inaugurating a Rythu Bazaar, which not only caters vegetables but also non-vegetarian items, here on Sunday, the Minister said the government would set up Rythu Bazaars to provide a platform for farmers to sell their produce directly to customers, thereby helping both the parties benefit.
“Our focus is on providing marketing and transport facilities to farmers,” Harish Rao said, while revealing plans to start modern Rythu Bazaars in Ramagundam, Siricilla and Vemulawada towns.
Karimnagar would also get four more Rythu Bazaars if the administration earmarked required land, he said, directing the officials to coordinate with the Municipal Corporation authorities.
He also promised to set up a cold storage unit in Karimnagar to facilitate the farmers to store their produce. Referring to the imports of tomato from Bengaluru, potatoes from Haryana and cabbage from Punjab, the Minister stressed the need for achieving self-sufficiency in the production of vegetables.
He directed the Horticulture Department to supply seed to encourage the vegetable production in the district.
He asked the farmers to make use of subsidies extended by the government for setting up of green houses, sprinklers and other drip irrigation equipment.
Minister for Finance E Rajender, Mayor Sardar Ravinder Singh, local MLA G Kamalakar, Chief Whip K Eashwar, ZP chairperson Tula Uma, Choppadandi MLA B Shobha, MLC Naradasu Lakshman Rao, Joint Collector P Basu and Municipal Commissioner Krishna Bhaskar were among others present.
