​Jammikunta Karimnagar: The past glory of Jammikunta agriculture market yard will be brought back, Minister for Finance E Rajender asserted.

Participating in the swearing-in ceremony of the Jammikunta agriculture market yard committee here on Monday, the Minister said the government is committed for the welfare of agriculture sector.

“Once Jammikunta market yard used to determine the trading of several farmers’ produces in Warangal market yard. Now, the market has lost the sheen. The newly-elected committee would bring back that past glory,” he expressed hope, asking the traders and the market yard management to maintain transparency in the transactions.

Claiming credit for the State government for introducing reservations in market yard committees, the Minister urged the members to ensure remunerative price to the farmers’ produces.

“All the roads in Huzurabad constituency will be developed and there will be no kutcha roads by 2019. This apart, all the mandals will be provided with drinking water through Mission Bhagiratha programme,” Rajender said.

In a bid to provide medical care on par with corporate hospitals, government has sanctioned Rs 17 crore to establish a modern hospital in Jammikunta, he said.

Karimnagar MP B Vinod Kumar said: “Efforts are on to turn Jammikunta market yard into a hi-tech market at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore. Proposals in this regard were sent to government.”

He also assured to develop Jammikunta mandal as a smart mandal in the district.Marketing department assistant director D Prakash administered oath of office by the new committee.

Zilla Parishad chairperson Tula Uma and Nagara Panchayat chairman Ramaswamy were among others present.
