Nadda pats TRS govt for polio vaccination drive
Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda has appreciated the State Government for taking up Inactivated Polio Vaccination (IPV) drive in the State. The Union Minister along with State Health Minister C Lakshma Reddy and other officials visited the polio centre at Golnaka near Imlibun Bus Station on Friday.
Hyderabad: Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda has appreciated the State Government for taking up Inactivated Polio Vaccination (IPV) drive in the State. The Union Minister along with State Health Minister C Lakshma Reddy and other officials visited the polio centre at Golnaka near Imlibun Bus Station on Friday.
Prakash Nadda said the State government had taken up the polio vaccination programme in a big way. “India is polio-free nation and there is no doubt about it,” he said. Appreciating the Health wing for finding the virus, he said the protocol wing would take care of the problem.
“There is good response from the people to get rid of the problem and heavy rush led to shortage of the vaccine, Nadda said. The Centre would send extra doses to the State to administer the polio vaccine, the Minister added. There was no need of panic for the people on the spread of polio, he asserted.
The Centre and the State governments were working in tandem to address the polio problem, which was not found in the last five years, Prakash Nadda stated. Lakshma Reddy said they were offering IPV facility to root out the polio problem.
“We have so far offered polio vaccination to 2.10 lakh children aged six weeks to three year in 800 centres in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, the Minister stated. The vaccination drive would continue to cover three lakh to four lakh children in three days.
Lakshma Reddy also said the Centre was cooperating with the State government to address the polio problem. BJP leaders K Lakshman and G Kishan Reddy and officials were present.
