New Delhi: All India Congress Committee (AICC) directed Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) to seek legal recourse against the defections engineered by the TRS in Telangana from Congress and on the refusal of the Speaker to act against them.

This was disclosed by the AICC sources here on Friday after a meeting with TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy. Uttam Kumar was summoned to Delhi by the high command for talks on the pathetic state of the party in Telangana and the continuing defections. It was felt that legal remedy was better to stop future desertions and expose the machinations of the ruling party.

He was asked to file the case against the defections in the Apex court by AICC leadership. Senior Counsel of the Supreme Court, Vivek Tanka who is presently a member of the Rajya Sabha and a former advocate general of MP, would handle the case.

According to Uttam Kumar, the case was likely to come up in July first week. It was also learnt that Reddy was also asked by the AICC to file cases against the alleged corruption involved in several schemes taken up by the TRS government to expose it further.
