Volvo victim’s kin get 1 cr compensation
Thanks to the efforts of lawyers involved in Lok Adalat, the family of victim Harish Bhagwat of the ghastly Palem Volvo bus accident on Thursday received court decree on payment of Rs 1.05 crore compensation within three years.
Mahbubnagar: Thanks to the efforts of lawyers involved in Lok Adalat, the family of victim Harish Bhagwat of the ghastly Palem Volvo bus accident on Thursday received court decree on payment of Rs 1.05 crore compensation within three years.
Judge Gangi Reddy had appointed Vinod Kumar as advocate to persuade the HDFC Insurance Company through the Lok Adalat -- consequent to the Supreme Court ruling of 2010 that the Legal Services Authority should render assistance to those who cannot approach courts -- to pay the compensation, after holding consultations with the State government.
Bhagwat’s wife Pratibha and parents Ranga Rao and Ramadevi received the court decree from Mahbubnagar District Judge Sivanagi Reddy.
The judge expressed elation over the settlement on the last day of his service. The victim’s family members also said they were satisfied with the court decision. They thanked the judge.
