Embankment at Mangapet Pushkar ghat damaged
The residents of Mangapet on the banks of river Godavari are demanding that the irrigation officials immediately carry out repairs to the river Pushkar ghat at the village. The embankment adjoining the Pushkar ghat which was built during Godavari Pushkaralu in July 2015 developed fissure due to flood water running into the river from the village.
Mangapet (Warangal): The residents of Mangapet on the banks of river Godavari are demanding that the irrigation officials immediately carry out repairs to the river Pushkar ghat at the village.
The embankment adjoining the Pushkar ghat which was built during Godavari Pushkaralu in July 2015 developed fissure due to flood water running into the river from the village.
The ghat expected to be damaged further as the river level would increase further due inflows into it. No official has visited the village to inspect the Pushkar ghat even though the situation might turn dangerous if the fissure was not sealed immediately, said a local MPTC Ch Suresh. He said there was an urgent need to execute revetment works on Karakatta (river bund) from Gamponigudem to Mangapet.
