Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao would stop coming to the State Secretariat once the new CM’s Camp Office at Begumpet starts functioning from Dasara this year, sources said here on Monday.
Officials are making all arrangements to shift the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) to the new Camp Office, which is under construction in a sprawling nine-acre area at Begumpet, the sources said. All officials attached to the CMO would have special chambers and perform their duties from there.
The PR (Public Relations) wing in the CMO would also be shifted to the new Camp Office, sources said. The CMO and PR wing have been functioning from Samatha Block (C Block) in the Secretariat and have been facing trouble in discharging their responsibilities due to space crunch. Officials said that KCR was of the view that he would also perform his duties without interruption once the CMO was shifted to the new Camp Office.
The new Camp Office would be equipped with state of the art technology to hold video conferences and other high-level meetings, including cabinet meetings. The CMO would be shifted back to the Secretariat only after the construction of new administrative blocks planned in the existing area.
The government has proposed to establish a new secretariat by demolishing all the buildings, including the blocks allotted to Andhra Pradesh government as part of bifurcation of the erstwhile AP State.
All the Camp Office premises would come under high security zone where security would be monitored through CCTVs round-the-clock and all the buildings were being constructed as per ‘vastu sastra’ guidelines. The high tech Camp Office would also have hotline connections to all main offices in every mandal headquarters.
