Launching the second phase of 15-day Haritha Haram programme at the Collectorate here on Friday, the Minister urged the people to make success of the programme. He said that administration is geared up for the plantation of 3.5 crore saplings across the district.

“The government is on a mission mode to implement Haritha Haram,” he said, referring to the plantation of 1.5 lakh along the highway between Hyderabad and Kodad in just one hour.

Stating that authorities have made available of wide range of saplings, he urged the people to pick their choice of trees.

He said that apart from taking up the plantation drive on a massive note, the government has also plans to protect them.

Later, the R&B Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao participated as the chief guest in the massive plantation drive at Telangana border village Nallabanda Gudem of Kodad mandal on Friday.

He said the government’s flagship programme ‘Haritha Haram’ would make the drought to disappear from Telangana districts stated.

The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, with the vision to transform the State as Haritha Telangana, designed Haritha Haram programme last year to improve green coverage in the State in order to increase rainfall.

The government was planning to plant 46 crore saplings this year and 240 crore saplings in the next three years to get recommended 33 percentage of green coverage in Telangana.
