“A senior official of the district will be appointed to oversee the plantation programme in which the CM is scheduled to take part,” the Minister said, gearing up the administration to make the event a huge success.

The grandiose event will include plantation of two lakh saplings at one go as soon as the CM plants the first tree in the district, Tummala said, instructing the officials to identify the government premises and land for the plantation drive.

District Collector DS Lokesh Kumar, Joint Collector D Divya, DWMA project director Jagat Kumar Reddy and divisional forest officer G Narsaiah were present.

Earlier, the Minister laid foundation stone for the road works of Gangaram-Chintalapudi being taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 6.5 crore. He also set the foundation stone for a high-level bridge at Pakalagudem with an outlay of Rs 2.75 crore. He was accompanied by Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.

Meanwhile, the Minister will inaugurate the Gollapalli Lift Irrigation Scheme (LIS) constructed with an outlay of Rs 4.91 crore on Masivagu under Tekulapally mandal on Sunday.

The command area under the LIS is 531 acres, according to irrigation officials. Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao will be the chief guest.
