TS response to Central schemes tepid: Minister
Stating that the responsibility of implementing Central schemes lies with State governments, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh on Friday observed that the Telangana government was slow in implementing Centre’s pro-farmer schemes.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP office here along with Union minister Bandaru Dattatraya and BJP Telangana President K Laxman, Radha Mohan Singh said the Centre had started the Soil Health Card Scheme for farmers and released Rs 40 crore to Telangana.
Though the Telangana government conducted soil testing, it could not complete the process of issuing soil health cards to the farmers. He said that the Centre wanted to provide soil health cards to all farmers by March 2017. The State government should speed up the process, he said.
The Union Agriculture Minister said that the Modi government was committed for the development of Telangana. The Modi government had given Rs 874 crore to Telangana in two years through the National Disaster Fund. He also said that government allocated Rs 1,515 crore for a period of five years between 2015 and 2020. He said that the previous government had allocated Rs 153 crore to undivided Andhra Pradesh.
He further informed that the Modi government had allocated Rs 175 crore for the Horticulture University, Rs 131 crore for research, Rs 13 crore for carrying out extension works. The Minister informed that the Centre had sanctioned ‘Gokul Gram’ for Nizamabad district. He asked the State government to speed up the process of software and computerisation for the national market. Five markets have been allocated to Telangana out of the 585 markets in the country.
