Warangal: Former mayor and senior Congress leader Errabelli Swarna has demanded the State government to extend support to the victims of Punjagutta road accident that took place in the State capital on July 1.

She, along with several Congress leaders, has called on and consoled the family members of P Ramya, the child injured in the accident and died after struggling for life, at the child’s grandfather P M Chary’s residence at Vijaya Ganapathi Nagar in Hanamkonda on Wednesday.

Chary, the victim of the accident succumbed to the injuries a couple of days ago.

Speaking to press persons on the occasion, Swarna grieved at the misfortune that struck the three generations of the family for no fault of theirs.

She asked the government to provide ex-gratia, medical expenses and government job to anyone of the family member.

The former mayor wanted the government to come up with strict measures to prevent drunk and drive cases besides steps to restrict selling liquor to minors.

‘There is an urgent need for the government to respond on this issue and to save precious lives,’ she added.

Former corporator Ramana Reddy, party leaders Rahul Reddy, A Raju, Bhupal Reddy and others were present victims.
