Warangal: Aptly sitting in an auditorium that was named after Rani Rudrama Devi, certainly those, who shared their grief over loss of their beloved ones in road mishaps, needed the valour of the legendary queen of Kakatiya dynasty.

It was an emotion-filled afternoon for one and all those present at the ‘Kshemam’ meeting, specifically organised to send a message across the society the significance of driving carefully to ensure that their parents would not have to go through the kind of trauma that they are undergoing.

Thanks to the Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu, who was instrumental behind arranging the programme.

“We spend a lot of money on our kids to keep them happy. This apart, we provide them with high-speed bikes and other vehicles without much thought on their safety,” Warangal DCC President Naini Rajender Reddy said, remembering his 18-year-old son Vishal, who died after hit by a RTC bus in Hyderabad last year.

Vishal would have been around us had he sported a headgear on that fateful day, saying this Reddy went inconsolable. The police boss was quick to reach him to console.

Akula Nagaraju purchased bike that costs around Rs 8 lakh for his son. Although the youth was provided with a helmet worth Rs 16,000, he neglected it to wear and succumbed to head injuries near Kakatiya University.

The misery of Gudikandula Lavanya of Hasanparthy was no different. Lavanya husband, who sustained head injuries in a road mishap, died orphaning her and their two children.

Alwal Sumanth Kumar of Hanamkonda and Kagitala Ramya of Station Ghanpur too expressed the kind of trauma that they are undergoing due to untimely death of their family members.

Speaking to The Hans India, Police Commissioner Sudheer Babu said: “There are no if and buts in life. Parents should understand the thin line between love and pampering.

All those expressed their grief today would have been happy had their departed ones wore headgears.”
