Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday warned officials and people’s representatives to stop taking the prestigious Haritha Haram as a “light-hearted” programme.

Reviewing the progress in the implementation of the plantation programme, the Chief Minister instructed officials and people’s representatives to work hard and achieve the desired goals set in the programme.

The CM said that he had received feedback from districts about the “inactive participation” from MLAs, MLCs and other people’s representatives in the plantation drive. “Such big programmes will not succeed without dedication and sincerity from officials and public representatives.”

He expressed unhappiness at the attitude being shown by some leaders in not taking up the plantation drive wholeheartedly in some areas. Directing officials to safeguard the planted saplings on a mission mode by supplying water from different sources,

the Chief Minister wanted a senior forest official appointed as in-charge for every division to monitor the plantation drive regularly. He said Haritha Mithra awards would be presented to those who work hard and take-up the drive seriously, during the Independence Day celebrations.
