Nizamabad: District Collector Yogitha Rana said that Rs 2650 crore were required to complete the Mission Bhagiratha works in the district.
Participating in the foundation laying ceremony of the pipelines construction works at Komanpalli village of Armoor mandal in the district on Tuesday along with the Armoor MLA Jeevan Reddy, she said that if any project has to be completed successfully, the people also have to involve themselves in it without fail.
The District Collector said that the pipelines construction works would be completed in another three days and purified filtered water would be supplied to 376 families in the village.
She said that Rs 10 lakh were sanctioned for providing pipeline connections in Komanpalli village. An action plan would be chalked in the first phase under this scheme to provide water to 121 villages and drinking water would be supplied initially to 25 villages having water tanks.
Collector Rana said that tanks would be constructed on the Mallannasagar project to pump Godavari River water through lift irrigation for providing water to all the villages. The estimated cost for this was Rs 150 crore, she added.
She urged the local people to extend their cooperation in completing the projects by coordinating with officials of various departments. In any country, the developmental and social welfare programmes could be implemented successfully by forging a partnership with the people, she added.
The District Collector said that women’s self respect and pride would be enhanced if there were individual toilets in their houses as they need not go out in the open to defecate.
She also urged the pregnant women to join government hospitals to undergo deliveries. While there were 78 percent of caesarian operations were undertaken in private hospitals, only 20 percent of ceasarian operations done in government hospitals, she added.
Collector Rana said that pregnant and lactating mothers could get nutritious food and eggs in anganwadi centres and urged them to consume such food to prevent anemia.
Speaking on the occasion, Armoor MLA A Jeevan Reddy said that Mission Bhagiratha was the brain child of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and the TRS government has taken it up as a prestigious project to provide water to the thirsty millions.
He urged the people to extend their cooperation in completing it.
RDO Yadi Reddy, Mission Bhagiratha Executive engineer Ramesh, Tahsildar Rajender and local leaders were present on the occasion.
