Hyderabad: Following several representations from the family members of stranded Telanganites in Saudi Arabia that the workers there were facing hardships as companies there had removed them from employment, Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali asked the Union Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj to resolve the issue.

In his letter addressed to the Union Minister on Wednesday, the Deputy Chief Minister said that at least 30 per cent of the total expatriates were from Telangana, who were languishing there as they had not been paid wages for the last eight months.

With no cooperation from the local authorities, the stranded people were running out of supplies and ration. He said they were living in temporary shelters provided by some good Samaritans.He described this as a humanitarian crisis, where the lives of more than 9,000 Indians were thrown out of gear.
