Hyderabad: The Osmania University teachers on Monday announced that they would continue to abstain from their duties till the varsity paid salary for the month of July.

Over 300 teachers of the university took out a rally from the University College of Arts and Social Sciences to the administrative building demanding the administration to pay their salaries immediately.

The protest by the university teachers is fourth such incident this year. Almost every month, teachers are hitting the roads demanding their salaries.

Talking to presspersons on Friday, vice-chancellor Prof S Ramachandram had assured the teachers that they would get their salaries by Friday evening.

Teachers said that they did not get their salary as promised and claimed that this sort of situation never occurred in the history of Osmania University.

“It is unfortunate that the government is forcing teachers to organise protest programmes only for payment of salaries,” said Prof B Satyanarayana, President, Osmania University Teachers’ Association (OUTA).
