Hyderabad: Following the decision of a Division Bench of High Court to stay the judgment of the single Judge quashing the GO 123 on land acquisition for irrigation projects, the Congress party on Wednesday asserted that it would continue its fight till the GO was scrapped.

Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, senior congress leader Damodara Raja Narasimha said while the Land Acquisition Act-2013 was being implemented throughout the country, the Telangana government had brought in GO 123 only with an intention to cause loss to the farmers whose lands were being acquired for projects.

Rajanarasimha also made it clear that the Congress party was never against any irrigation project, but only opposed the loot of public exchequer in the name of re-designing projects.

He flayed the police for arresting Congress leader Jagga Reddy while the latter was proceeding to support the agitation being carried out by Mallannasagar land oustees at Sangareddy on Wednesday.

Jagga Reddy was arrested when he took out a rally from Old Bus Stand at Sangareddy and was proceeding to organise a Deeksha in support of the oustees.

However, police said permission was not given to Jagga Reddy to organise the indefinite Deeksha. District Library Authority chairman Anantha Kishen and some NSUI leaders were also arrested.
