Hyderabad: A day after entering into an historical agreement on the construction of irrigation projects on River Godavari, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday requested his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis to complete the long-pending inter-State Lendi project.

In a letter to Fadnavis, the Telangana Chief Minister brought to the notice of the former that the TS government had already deposited Rs 183.79 crore as its share for the construction of the project. The project cost had already gone up to Rs 554.54 crore from Rs 275.83 crore and if delayed there would be further cost escalation, he said.

KCR urged the Maharastra CM to intervene in the matter and expedite the completion of the project. He said that the officials of the two State governments had already discussed land acquisition and rehabilitation and resettlement issues pertaining to the villages that would come under submergence, and getting all clearances from Central Water Commission and completion of balanced works in the meetings held recently, the letter added.
