Telangana TDP state general secretary Bollam Mallaiah Yadav urged the State government to release water to the Left Canal and Alemineti Madhava Reddy Project (AMRP) from Nagarjuna Sagar Project continuously rather than in phased manner for Kharif.
Nalgonda: Telangana TDP state general secretary Bollam Mallaiah Yadav urged the State government to release water to the Left Canal and Alemineti Madhava Reddy Project (AMRP) from Nagarjuna Sagar Project continuously rather than in phased manner for Kharif.
Speaking at a media conference at the party office here on Friday, Mallaiah Yadav lamented that the crops under Nagarjuna Sagar ayacut were withering away as water was released on Thursday (August 25).
The delay in water release caused the crops to damage as Kharif season generally begins in July last week or first week of August.
He strongly objected the government’s decision to release water to the Left Canal in six phases on the basis of on and off system. The TDP leader pointed out the government officials for restricting the farmers to only take up cultivation of wet land crops and pulses and keep away from paddy cultivation.
Mallaiah Yadav demanded the government providing an ex-gratia of Rs 10,000 per acre to farmers, whose crops were damaged in ayacut and non-ayacut areas.
TDP Nalgonda constituency in-charge Kancharla Bhupal Reddy, Madagani Srinivas Goud and others were present on the occasion.
