Nalgonda: The religious and political leaders on Tuesday suggested to the district administration to install CCTV cameras at all Ganesh pandals in Nalgonda town, which would be setup on September 5 for Ganesh Navarathri Usthavams.

Speaking at the Peace Committee meeting, headed by the District Collector P Satyanarayana Reddy, held here on Tuesday, Congress leader Hafeez Khan stated that on the day of immersion, the idol procession would pass through eight Masjids in Nalgonda town and steps should be taken to ensure that the procession crosses them much before the commencement of Namaz to avoid any untoward incident.

He said that due to the delay in conducting the procession, tension prevailed for some time last year. He has also suggested to the officials to setup CCTV cameras at all the pandals to ensure peaceful conduct of the festival.

BJP leader Oruganti Ramulu requested the district officials to ensure that only devotional songs were played at the pandals. He said no scope should be given for making provocative speeches by anyone at the pandals or during Bakrid festival.

The district CPI secretary N Adi Reddy, indirectly referring to a Ganesh pandal setup by a gangster at Prakasam Bazar said that police should thoroughly verify the details of the persons or committees which would apply for permission to setup a pandal.

Advocate Afan Ali said that the cable and electric wires be lifted to a proper height to avoid accidents and electrocution during procession.

TDP leader and Ganesh Utsav Committee president Madagoni Srinivas Goud strongly objected to the seeking of application forms from the Ustav Committee by the police for setting up of pandals and changed the term to “information letter”. He urged the district administration to make arrangements for immersion of Ganesh idols at NSP canal, which is geographically nearer to the town.
