The idea of dividing Warangal and Hanamkonda cities is both unscientific and inappropriate, said Lok Satta Udyama Samstha state advisor Parcha Kodanda Rama Rao
Warangal: The idea of dividing Warangal and Hanamkonda cities is both unscientific and inappropriate, said Lok Satta Udyama Samstha state advisor Parcha Kodanda Rama Rao.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Rama Rao demanded the State government to withdraw the proposal. A resolution in connection with the demand was passed by the Udyama Samstha. The copy of the resolution would be sent to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, he added.
He said that for the sake of administrative convenience, it would be better to create small districts but it could not ensure real decentralisation of powers.
The decentralisation of powers could be achieved only when funds were released directly to village and mandal level elected bodies to execute development works, he said.
Retaining all the administrative powers at district headquarters could not be called decentralisation even if many new districts were created and it would not benefit the people in any manner, Kodanda Rama Rao opined.
The district Lok Satta Udyama Samsatha convener G Mohan Reddy sought to know how the premise that there should be 60 to 70 km distance between one district headquarters and another district headquarters be justified if Warangal and Hanamkonda districts were created.
The tri-cities of Warangal-Hanamkonda-Kazipet lay stretched in around 15 to 18 km radius. It was planned to post nearly 1000 postal cards by different colony residents to the Chief Minister opposing the creation of Hanamkonda district, he said.
The district Yuva Satta convener Thota Pawan said that they have been making efforts to submit objections on the new districts re-organisation portal launched by the State government seeking suggestions and objections from the public on creation of new districts.
