He was said to be bed-ridden for the last three years, with respiratory problem. He is survived by three sons, a daughter and wife Sasiprabha.

Tandur: The former Roads & Buildings Minister M Manik Rao passed away while undergoing treatment for prolonged illness, at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, on Thursday morning. He was said to be bed-ridden for the last three years, with respiratory problem. He is survived by three sons, a daughter and wife Sasiprabha.

Manik Rao, who hails from Basheerabad in Tandur mandal, was a five-time MLA and one-time MLC. He, as a Congressman, worked as Minister in the Cabinets of former Chief Ministers PV Narsimha Rao, Jalagam Vengal Rao, T Anjaiah and Marri Channa Reddy.

In the funeral held with State honours here on Thursday evening, former Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, Marri Sasidhar Reddy, Chevella MLA Yadaiah, party workers across political affiliations and government officials attended.
