Ramalinga Raju’s brother to get back passport

Justice M S K Jaiswal of the High Court at Hyderabad on Thursday directed the prosecution to return the passport of Rama Raju, brother of Ramalinga Raju.

The judge allowed a petition of Rama Raju, challenging an order of the lower court which rejected his application for return of his passport on the ground that they should be sent along with other documents to the appellate court where the appeals dealing with the Satyam case are pending.

In his order Justice Jaiswal pointed out that the court had no power to reject the passport on the ground that all the documents relating to the case were required to be sent to the appellate court.

He pointed out that unless the document was marked as a document in the case, it would not constitute a document for being sent up to the appellate court.

The judge accordingly allowed the petitioner Rama Raju and directed the return of his passport.
