Khammam: The CPI (ML) New Democracy has called for a bandh on October 4 in the Agency areas to exert pressure on the State government for the creation of three Adivasi districts with Bhadrachalam (Khammam), Mulug/Eturnagaram (Warangal) and Utnoor (Adilabad) as their headquarters.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, party’s district secretary Potu Ranga Rao said that the ruling class is continuing its transgression on tribal communities since the times of British regime. In order to establish their supremacy over Adivasis, the British government adopted savage attacks against the indigenous people.
The present rulers are also following the same suit despite the Indian Parliament had passed several legislations to safeguard the rights of Adivasis,” Rao said, demanding the government to do justice at least now.
Adding more to the injustice meted out to the tribal communities, the government is bent on reorganising the districts without considering their interests, he said, referring to the split of Adivasi areas into different districts.
He alleged that split of Adivasi areas not only has its adverse effect on tribal administration but also pave way for the multinationals and corporate sector to have their sway over the forests.
In addition to carving out three Adivasi districts, the government should also set up an autonomous council to look after the indigenous people spread across four districts – Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar and Adilabad, Rao said.
Talking on spurious chilli seed, he demanded the government should ensure that the seed companies pay a compensation of Rs one lakh per acre to farmers, who incurred losses due to failure of crop.
He also demanded the government blacklisting of the companies that supplied spurious seed, besides initiating criminal action against them.Senior leaders Gokinepally Venkateswar Rao, Avula Venkateswarlu, G Ramaiah, Gurram Achaiah and MaliduzNageswara Rao were present.
