Hyderabad: Call it owing to the derring-do act of the government or left with no option, more than half of the IAS officers before they actually went through the rigours of working at different levels in the administration now find themselves at the helm of districts’ affairs. Thanks to the formation of smaller districts, aimed at bringing the administration to the doorsteps of the common man, that made fresh blood to work at the highest level.

Four of the 31 District Collectors – D Krishna Bhaskar (Rajanna-Sircilla), Alugu Varshini (Peddapally), RV Karnan (Mancherial) and Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu (Bhadradri Kothagudem) of the 2012 Batch - are the youngest in terms of service made it to the top post.

The other officials who also made it to the cut are Prashanth J Patil (Warangal Rural) and Swetha Mohanty (Wanaparthy) of the 2011 Batch; Divya Devarajan (Vikarabad), Bharathi Hollikeri (Medak), K Amrapali (Warangal Urban) and Preeti Meena (Mahabubabad) of the 2010 Batch; Sarfaraz Ahmed (Karimnagar) and N Satyanarayana (Kamareddy) of 2009.

However, the elevation of these juniors comes in as a surprise and a bit enviable to their seniors, who had to come through the ranks after years of waiting, almost all these officers exhibited extreme administrative skills in their capacities.

The 32-year-old D Krishna Bhaskar, working as the Municipal Commissioner, played a key role in Karimnagar’s quest to find its name in the list of Smart Cities Project of the Central government. He also won accolades working as Special Officer during Godavari Maha Pushkaralu.

Terming his elevation as a godsend opportunity, Rajanna-Sircilla collector Krishna Bhaskar told The Hans India: “Normally, it would have taken around 10 years to become a district collector. Though it’s honour, it adds more responsibility to live up to the trust I have been given by the government.”

Be in establishing Vikasam, a dedicated experiential learning school for the special children, or his innovative ways of administration in reaching out the Adivasis during his stint as the Project Officer of the Utnoor ITDA, RV Karnan made his mark.

Both Divya Devarajan and K Surendra Mohan, who worked as the joint collector of Khammam, are highly regarded in the district for their hard work and commitment. Divya said: “I hope my experience as the ITDA Project Officer will come in handy in the administration of backward Vikarabad district.”

“Now it’s time to raise the bar with impetus on health and education and all my experience with the ITDA would be an added advantage,” Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu, Bhadradri-Kothagudem district collector said.Rahul Bojja (2000 Batch), who heads Hyderabad, is the senior most among the all district collectors, followed by M Raghunandan Rao (Rangareddy) and Jyothi Buddha Prakash (Adilabad) of the 2002 Batch.
