ASI, three others die in separate mishaps

Hyderabad: In a freak mishap, an Armed Reserve Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) died when a speeding lorry hit him in the early hours of Sunday near NIMS, Panjagutta.

According to the police, C Bhujanga Reddy, 52, who was posted at the Amberpet Police Training Centre, was driving his scooter when the accident took place. A resident of Uppal, he was going home on Sunday, when the truck, loaded with scrap, was moving towards Kukatpally. After being taken into custody, the driver was booked under Section 304 (causing death due to negligence). The police officials said the victim was not wearing helmet at the time of the accident.

In another accident, a 33-year-old man was killed on the spot, while his friend suffered injuries, when the motorcycle they were riding met with an accident due to a pothole on the road. According to the Santosh Nagar Police, the victim, B Harikrishna, along with his friend Balakrishna, was travelling on the DRDL Main Road on Sunday morning. His motorcycle lost balance due to a pothole on the road. Both fell on the road and Harikrishna suffered a head injury which led to his instant death. Balakrishna has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment. Harikrishna was an electrician and resident of Shiva Mandir Road in Jilelguda.

In another case, B Chandram, 24, died of injuries which he sustained after he lost control over his bike and hit an electric pole on the Kamala Nagar Road on Saturday night. He was a lecturer and resident of the Housing Board Colony in Moulali. In another case, a woman, named Venkatamma, was crushed to death under a TSRTC bus in the morning on Sunday.
