Online shopping may prove to be a nightmare if the dress particularly selected and properly delivered does not suit the person for whom it was ordered.
Hyderabad: Online shopping may prove to be a nightmare if the dress particularly selected and properly delivered does not suit the person for whom it was ordered.
One will be compelled to return the dress or alternatively give it away to somebody else in the family.
A city-based start-up has harnessed 3D technology that captures a customer’s precise body shape and helps zero in on the right dress, resulting in complete satisfaction to them.
The firm, Trupik Virtualization Pvt Ltd, focuses on helping online shoppers select the correct size and colour combination in line with suitability to their person.
Co-founder of the startup Sridhar Tirumala says that with the introduction of new technology, returns from customers have become negligible.
Elaborating the new technology, Sridhar says that once their app is downloaded and the customer fills in the details of body measurements, the customer’s body shape would be visible in the virtual trial room.
If the customer wants exact measurements, a 3D camera would be sent home free of cost to take measurements.
Alternatively, the 3D avatar of the customers would be registered in the app of his mobile, while he is paying the bills at the counter of the designated shop with the help of 3D camera installed at the counter.
Once the customer selects a particular dress through his Trupik app, the virtual body in the app showcases the look of the new dress on his person, which appears in three dimensions.
Once the customer places the order, the fashion designer would bring the dresses to the house and the customer has to choose among them, says Sridhar.
The dress would be delivered in three hours and at the time of delivery the personnel would take the exact measurements of the customer with 3D camera for future orders.
Thereafter, customers would get exact dress with correct measurements and the virtual body would showcase how they look in the new dress in seconds.
There is a provision in the app to send the dress to friends and relatives and it also allows group purchases.
Trupik has presently tied up with Raymonds, Peter England, Allen Soly, Van Huesen, among others, in Hyderabad, apart from 2,500 stores across the country, Sridhar says.
The startup, which started its business during Dasara, is now receiving at least 150 orders per day. There are plans to expand its business to Bengaluru soon.
Exuding confidence that the startup would achieve break-even in the coming 18 months, Sridhar said that they had invested Rs 7 crore in it.
The company employs 33 personnel, of which 13 are IITians. “We are foraying into women’s fashion, shoes, jewelry and cosmetics soon through this app which took three years to develop,” he said, expressing happiness that they had solved many problems relating to online shopping of dress.
